Abstract in Englisch:

Schlagwörter Englisch: ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES ozone photochemical oxidants

The influence of photochemical oxidants on forests and

environment

Recent tropospheric ozone formation is mainly manmade.

From the emitted pollutions in ambient air are by physical and

chemical processes oxidants and particles (photochemical

smog) produced. These substances are of great importance in

the environment. The formation of oxidants and particles are

indused by solar radiation and photochemical reactions with

nitrogen dioxides, divers hydrocarbons and carbon

monoxide. Tracer of the photooxidant-complex is ozone with

a share of 70 - 80 %. Phytotoxic impacts of reactive species

result from effects on biomembranes. These biomembranes are

sensitive and vital for the organelles against environmental

influences and ensure the protection of the cell-integrity.

Membrane constituents such as unsaturated fatty acids and

proteins are targets of reactive species which consequently

leads to changes in the membrane structures. In the time space

of evolution plants developed effective defence mechanisms

which are based on encymatic or antioxidative functions. This

work meanly is a monograph of properties, abundance,

occurence and effects of photochemical oxidants with an

increasing potential of damage on ecosystems.
